1. How do I purchase an item?

Search for amazing sport and school related footwear, clothing, equipment and other associated products from the catalogue of listed items and find the perfect something you want to buy.
If you have questions before buying, contact the seller / donator to ask about the item via our “Message Seller” button, which can be found within the listing.
Paying for your chosen item is simple, press "Buy Now" on the item’s listing, this will take you through to our Stripe checkout which accepts all the usual card payments as well as Apple and GooglePay (pretty much everything except cash).
Our Buyer Protection Fee means you can buy with confidence, if items are damaged or do not arrive Grassboots will endeavour to step in to help resolve the issue.
If the item is significantly different from the description, try to find agreement with the seller / donator. If you need us to step in, please contact us and we’ll try to help.

2. What happens once an item is bought?

Once you have bought an item you will be sent an email confirmation, so please check your email. It will give information on the item that was purchased and the next steps for delivery.
As Grassboots is a community-focused platform, why not meet at the club house, school gates or student union, or somewhere convenient, but we’ll leave that for you to arrange.
If the item is damaged, or is significantly different from the description, try to find agreement with the seller/donator. If you need us to step in, please contact us and we’ll try to help.

3. How do I shop other community marketplaces?

If you want to shop other marketplaces on Grassboots, tap on the + buttons at the top of the Home Screen and choose the marketplaces you want to add.
If you can’t find your sports club or school on the member list, please tell them to get in touch or even easier, email contact details to the Grassboots Team (hello@grassboots.club) and we will make contact and help them join up!

4. Which Sports Club, School or University am I fundraising for?

This will be the club, school or university that you first linked to when registering on Grassboots, your “main club”. The name and logo will show up on the top left of your Home Screen. You can also confirm by tapping on your “Profile”.
This information tells you where the proceeds from your donation(s), once sold, will help support and raise funds for.
Multiple clubs, schools or universities to support? You can change the main organisation that you fundraise for and share the positivity of raising funds within your wider community.
This can be done by tapping on the main logo icon, (the furthest left circle) then pick from your drop-down list of organisation options. Once an alternative is selected, this confirms your fundraising choice.
On any item sold where you have chosen to split your earnings with your chosen organisation, it will receive 75% of the proceeds.

5. How do I list an item to sell or donate?

Take pictures of the item(s) to sell.
Tap on the green “Grassboots Recycling Logo” button.
Upload photos to show off the item at its best and give a view on condition.
Add a “Title” e.g. Nike blue football boots.
Set a price to sell (see below for more info).
Use the slider to split and share proceeds of the sale with your chosen club, school or university, every little helps.
Follow the listing prompts to provide details on sport, category, and size.
When listing please add some information of the item’s condition, we recommend:
• New
• Lightly Used
• Game Tested
Press “Upload” – your listing is now live.

6. What delivery options are available?

There are three ways you can offer delivery when listing your item: In-Person, by post, or if you are super flexible, you can offer both in person or postage options.
The Buyer pays for postage at checkout and chooses the carrier service via our intelligent shipping recommendations. The Seller, will be sent the postage instructions to your email associated with your Grassboots account.
The Seller’s address helps our integrated postal functionality determine available delivery options in your area. Grassboots will show carriers based on cost efficiency and ease of access to drop-off points. So please ensure your address is up to date.
However, Sellers listing extra-large or bulky items are encouraged to use the local pick-up option.
You cannot change the delivery method once an item has been bought has been purchased.

7. How do I hand over items In-Person?

Buyers and Sellers can arrange In-Person handovers through our in-app messenger, tap on the “Messages” icon to kick start the conversation.
Choose a safe and convenient location such as, your sports club, your school or your university student union.
Grassboots does not mediate disputes for local pick-ups, so ensure you mutually agree on the collection details clearly and always communicate within the Grassboots app.

8. What does "Postage Only" mean?

For when posting items is more convenient.
Sellers need to select the parcel size when listing an item, whilst we provide recommendations to help, please double check the items dimensions before listing.
Buyers will see postage costs from well-known delivery companies before purchasing.
Buyers pay the postage cost and this is added to the total purchase price at checkout.

9. How does "In-Person or Postage" work?

For those flexible Sellers that can offer both delivery options.
Sellers still need to select the parcel size when listing an item for sale, whilst we provide a recommendation of parcel sizes, please double check your item dimensions before listing.
Buyers can choose their preferred postage option and pay on checkout.
Use the Grassboots in-app messenger to confirm collection arrangements for In Person meet ups.

10. What are the best postage practices?

When dropping off parcels for posting, it’s strongly recommended to request a proof of postage receipt from the drop-off location. This can be used to resolve any delivery disputes.
Always use secure packaging.
Posting timelines - sellers should post items within 2-3 days of purchase.
Buyers can track their parcel using the provided tracking information on the purchase confirmation email.

11. What if I don’t have a printer?

Use the QR code provided by our partnered shipping agents.
Show the QR code at the drop-off shop, and they’ll print the label for you.

12. Do you offer returns?

Sellers can choose whether to accept returns.
This must be clearly stated in the item description to avoid confusion.

13. How should I set a price?

The focus of Grassboots is to support your much-loved sports clubs and schools as well as making a bit extra for your spare items, so we believe it is best to sell items at a great price and ensure sportswear and equipment gets back in the sporting arena, where it belongs.
Whilst we appreciate larger or newer items may attract a higher price, we want everyone to benefit from your listing and ensure it sells quickly to benefit you, your chosen organisation and the buyer, so set at an affordable price to keep recycling within the community.

14. How can I support my community with the "Earnings Split" slider?

Once you’ve set a sale price, use our slider scale to share some or all of the funds, with the club, school or university that you support and give something back to your sporting community.
By using the Grassboots slider scale, you can quickly see the money you will get from your listing as well as the share that your chosen club, school or university will receive from your generous split.
There are no selling fees for listing items on Grassboots.
The Buyer pays a platform fee of 3% + 30p which goes towards Stripe charges, marketing and improvements of the Grassboots marketplace. We add this amount at checkout so that you can see exactly what is to be paid.

15. How do I earn money on Grassboots?

To start selling and earning money on Grassboots you will need to first set up your account in the “My Earnings” section. This ensures money from your sales are linked to your Bank Account.
We strive to be the best and build trust in our community so to ensure secure and transparent transactions, as such we use Stripe Connect, the leading Global platform provider for online payments and marketplaces, a worldwide trusted and regulated service provider to process all payments on our platform.
To set up an account, please follow the link via “Profile” and then “My Earnings” to complete the onboarding process.
Once your item has sold, the amount raised will be shown in the “My Earnings” section of your profile.
The payout of monies is then initiated to your linked bank account 7 working days after the sale date of that item.
When earning on the platform, Grassboots will transfer 100% of your listing sale proceeds, minus any shared revenue you have given to your organisation. There may be a small transfer cost between Stripe and your chosen Bank Account but this may vary.

16. Why should I only list clean items?

In general, all items that you list should be clean and in a condition that you would be happy to receive them. We recommend washing them in a way suitable to the item’s material.
Any spots, defects, or similar flaws that don’t wash off must be included in the listing’s description and photos. Please be aware that if they’re not noted this is likely to cause issue and may only result in reduced sale proceeds.
Make sure any sports equipment is safe to use and fit for purpose.

17. What items am I not allowed to list (selling or donating)?

• Items that violate laws.
• Counterfeits and IP-infringing items.
• Food, drinks, perishables, detergents, and cleaning chemicals.
• Medications, medical supplies, prescription products, vitamins, and supplements.
• Items promoting violence, discrimination, hatred, crime, terrorism.
• Non-hygienic items (e.g., used underwear).
• Recalled products.

18. What items can I sell or donate?

Basically, anything School, University and Club related - footwear, clothing, equipment and other associated products may be listed on the App.
Help others carry on sporting story you started!

19. How do I block or report a user?

If you receive spam, harassment, inappropriate content, requests for your private data, pictures of you wearing an item (with or without your face visible) or any other discrimination, you should block and report the member.
Press the 3-dot-symbol in the upper right corner of a listing and select “Block User”
The blocked member will no longer be able to send you messages or buy your items. Also, you’ll no longer be able to see the member’s items.
Please report inappropriate behaviour by tapping on the same 3-dot-symbol in the upper right corner and press “Report” the post will then be investigate.
